Anthrax Part 2
Hi Medico-Humans ,
Below are visual maps on Bacillus Anthrax transmission and pathogenesis, hope you enjoy reading it, Love 😍.
Quick details ...
B. Anthrax transmission
Anthrax is zoonotic illness, following are mode of transmission-
- Inhalation of spores
- Direct contact of spores to skin (through cuts or breaks)
- More common in people working and living close to unvaccinated animals. (wool sorter’s disease and Hide porter’s disease).
- Bioterrorism
The Exotoxin
Bacillus Anthrax secrets tri-partite Exotoxin-PEL
P- Protective antigen- this works for host cell attachment and rest of two factors enters cell after attachment.
E-Edema factor- It works by increasing cAMP and thus causing Vasodilation, edema and eschar.
L-Lethal Factor- It induces apoptosis in host macrophages.
Synergistic effect of all three causes cell death and cell function disruption.
Bacillus Anthrax must have both capsule and exotoxin to be fully virulent.
